Club Formation
Starting a fly-fishing club is not a difficult undertaking, and with the assistance of the Saskatchewan Fly Fishing Federation it becomes a relatively easy task. For more information or assistance please contact us at SaskFlyFIshFederation@gmail.com

Citizen Science
Saskatchewan monitors fish populations to detect changes from harvest, environmental conditions and stocking.

Monitoring populations relies on ministry biologists to collect important information on both the lake and the fishery including water quality and fisheries data such as the species, density, health, sex, length and age of the fish collected. Results provide information on the status of fish populations and form the basis for changes to the management of the fishery if needed to continue to meet management objectives.

By participating in this voluntary survey, anglers can help fisheries biologists manage the stocked trout fishery in Saskatchewan. Anglers submit information for each day fished on a stocked trout waterbody, using either:
-
The survey web page; or
-
The Survey123 field app, which can be downloaded to a smartphone at no cost.
Fly Caught Trophy Sizes
We are presently not pursuing Trophy Fish Registry and Certificates. We have taken a more conservation friendly approach that will educate Fly Fishers on what sizes are attainable within the province and help them set goals and Fly Fishers.
Fly Fishing Journals
Free Fly FIshing Journals are available for any members of our clubs. They are a great way to keep track of the temperatures, weather conditions, flies used and your catches! A Fishing Journal is also a great way up your fishing game while helping preserve fishing memories.

Fly Fishing journals are submitted yearly so their information can be summarized reviewed at a whole at a club meeting and sent in to the Ministry of Environment Fisheries Unit.

These are a great way to help our fisheries staff determine the state of a fishery. Our fisheries staff rarely get opportunities, funding or time to do assessment work on the small fisheries that so many of our fly fishers enjoy.

The Fly Fishing Journals are a great compliment to the Survey 123 Stocked Trout Angler Survey App.
